OFFICE 365 UPDATE (21-27 January 2018)

This is the list of January 21 – 27, 2018 Office 365 weekly updates.

According to Microsoft team, they added 24 new entries in the Office 365 Roadmap, but we’ll only list some of the most important updates to remember for existing Office 365 subscribers.

Latest Updates:

1. Assignments on Mobile and Tablet

Status: Launched
Date Added: January 23, 2018

Assignments on Teams in Office 365 Education for iOS and Android is now available.

2. Microsoft Stream: Purchasing Additional Video Storage

Status: Launched
Date Added: January 25, 2018

Administrators can now purchase additional Microsoft Stream video storage in 500 GB packs to add to their tenant’s pooled Stream video storage limits.

3. Microsoft Stream: Editing People Timeline for Video

Status: Launched
Date Added: January 25, 2018

This update provides video owners to be able to merge or hide detected faces shown in the people timeline for a video.

4. GCC High SKU Name

Status: Launched
Date Added: January 25, 2018

This update has no impact on the products or users and is just to simplify the licensing and contracting experience.

5. Dictation in Word

Status: Rolling out
Date Added: January 23, 2018
Expected Release Date: First quarter of 2018

This simple but transformational tool will help students of all abilities to write freely only with the use of their voice.

6. File Hover Card

Status: Rolling out
Date Added: January 23, 2018
Expected Release Date: 31 January 2018

With the new OneDrive Web UI refresh, we have launched another feature called the File Hover card. As soon as you hover your mouse over a file you will be able to see file details like access stats – number of views, who viewed , who modified.

Office 365 Update (10-16 December 2017)

This is the December 10 – 16, 2017 weekly updates Office 365.

The Office 365 Roadmap has six new entries, with most related to new features coming to StaffHub.

There is a new event on Monday, December 18, 2017 focused on the new calling features in Microsoft Teams. The popular customer immersion experiences are gearing up for more sessions starting in January.

The biggest news last week was the aforementioned calling features for Microsoft Teams. Other posts in the Blog Roundup include a look at what’s new for Office 365 in December and enhancements to sharing links and image search in Office 365.

Three Teams-related videos, details on protecting email on any Android / iOS device, and updated Skype for Business training close out this week’s post.

Recent Updates:

1. ATP for SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business and Teams

Status: Launched
Date Added: December 12, 2017
Expected Release: 4th week of December 2017

The security of ATP will now extend to SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Microsoft Teams. ATP now helps secure a broader set of workloads in Office 365, then also gains protection from advanced threats in more of your productivity workloads.

2. OneDrive Sync Engine End User Tutorial

Status: Rolling out
Date Added: December 12, 2017
Expected Release: 4th week of December 2017

New users of OneDrive that set up the OneDrive sync client will receive a one-time tutorial on uploading files to OneDrive, accessing their content via the Mobile Application, and sharing their files with others.

3. StaffHub: Simplifies workday management with “Today Page”

Status: In Progress
Date Added: December 12, 2017
Expected Release: First quarter of 2018

Team members can now use StaffHub to see and access all the news for the day directly in the app.

4. StaffHub: IT Admin Portal reporting available

Status: In Progress
Date Added: December 12, 2017
Expected Release: First quarter of 2018

Tenant admins will now have access to usage data for all StaffHub teams in their organization. The report will include information about the size of the team, members and owners on the team, along with which devices and features each team is using.

5. StaffHub: Distributed Content Based on Role and Shift

Status: In Progress
Date Added: December 12, 2017
Expected Release: First quarter of 2018

Organizations can now leverage StaffHub to distribute content to workers based on role, shift or need – making it easier for workers to access the right resources when and where they need it to do their best work.

6. StaffHub: CEO Townhall via Yammer

Status: In Progress
Date Added: December 12, 2017
Expected Release: First quarter of 2018

Team members can access important company news or announcements made in Yammer directly in StaffHub – allowing Firstline Workers to stay up to date and connected to the organization.
