OFFICE 365 UPDATE (7-13 JANUARY 2018)

We found the January 7 – 13, 2018 Office 365 weekly updates.

The Office 365 Roadmap has added thirteen new updates such as Bookings functions and Outlook for Android / iOS.

The entry for new SharePoint Admin Center is expected to release on January 22, 2018.

 

Recent Updates:

1. Microsoft Bookings: Customizable time increments

Status: In progress
Date Added: January 10, 2018
Expected Release: 1st Quarter 2018

Bookings will now offer full access over exactly when employee’s appointments are available.

2. Microsoft Bookings: Multi-day and all-day bookings

Status: In progress
Date Added: January 10, 2018
Expected Release: 4th week of January 2018

Bookings now offers support for multi-day and all-day service appointments.

3. eDiscovery: Export all content to archive (zip)

Status: In Progress

Expected Release: 4th week of January 2018

This update provides an alternate eDiscovery export format that reduces the necessity of truncating file paths when the file paths would exceed 260 characters.

4. Bulk metadata editing

Status: Rolling Out

Expected Release: 4th week of January 2018

This allows user to edit the metadata of several items at once by selecting those items in the modern list view, and using the details pane to edit their metadata.

5. Self-service Migration Kit

Status: Launched

Released: December 2017

Microsoft is releasing their migration toolkit for self-service users looking to migrate from share drives or several cloud based services to OneDrive on their own

6. Intelligent Scan via photo

Status: Launched

Released: December 2017

Updated the UX to do smart cropping of items being scanned. Streamlined capture flow.

7. Enhanced search experience in SharePoint

Status: Rolling Out

Released: 3rd week of January 2018

This update depicts the rich previews of over 270 different people matches and personalized ranking of results to help user find what he/she is looking for faster, highlight the new experience for search in SharePoint. Builds on earlier personalization of SP Home, and as announced at Ignite.

8. Outlook for Android: Favorite Folders, Groups, and People

Status: In Progress

Bringing Outlooks Groups app functionality into Outlook for Android. Users will be able to add groups, folders, and people as favorites and have easy access to these favorites in the sidebar and all Favorites will sync across devices.

11. Office Roadmap Filter Feature Improvements

Status: In Progress

Microsoft is currently improving the functionality of the filter feature, which will be unavailable in the meantime.

12. Outlook for Android and iOS: Access group files

Status: In Progress

Released: 4th week of January 2018

Users will be able to access files shared with Groups which include email attachments and SharePoint files.
